I think that it may be hard to answer your question.
If we are training students to work in industry, we need to initially train
them on software that is currently being used by potential employers.
The educational versions of most software is affordable by most schools.
I have helped train students at a local high school in Alphacam and they
were able to become productive on day one at their new job.
This is not to say that some of the new upstart programs would not be a good
starting point.
