The side with the resistor is the LED side. I can't quite read the color
code, but it probably runs from +5v. Use a meter to determine polarity.
The other side is the transistor side. Use a meter to determine polarity
here too. Connect +5v to the LED side, put your meter across the
transistor side and see which way reads the least resistance. Remove the
+5v and you should see the resistance go up.
If you can find a number on the sensor itself, that would probably be
beneficial.
