Alex,
Without trying to understand your example, I find two things to
success.
A-lines in the same axis alignment (ends pointed at each other) will
not trim or stretch to close. Manually drag a handle to snap on an end.
B-For lines that are at some angle displacement that refuse to trim and
appear to be very close to trimmed may not in fact cross. Zooming way in
will reveal this. Switch to Extend mode and close the gap.
Works every time. :-)
