engraving with excel

Dan,
Could you tell us how you would engrave lettering with excel?
Or do you use it only for the Celtic knots?
Is the mathmatics of the knots interesting?
That's my limit of three questions.
Perhaps if one had a vector font library, excel would be a reasonable way to
go.

I know of one program that uses only homebrew vector fonts for the graphics.
This has certain advantages for the programmer, as he know exactly what they
will do. Doesn't have to worry about them or their implementation changing
at some future date.

Does anyone else know how to do this, decompose letters into vectors?

If not, maybe I'll sit down and make a CAD library of letters & numbers.
