You may want to contact Dan Mauch at Camtronics. His 2 amp kit is a
L297/L298 set-up. I am not sure if he will sell the board alone, but it
is worth asking. His website is http://www.seanet.com/~dmauch/

Speaking of Camtronics, I just got some of his junction boards to
connect the PC signals to the drives. Very nice as always. It is a
straight forward product without frills. It just gives you easy to use
screw terminals for each pin on the parallel port. No optos, voltage
regulators, relays, etc that you frequently don't need. Just a nice
clean low cost, easy to use break out board.
