It looks small enough that lost wax would also be a strong contender. If you
are determined to machine it I would do the uprights that replace the brass
tubing as there own pieces just like you do now. Then join it to the cross
bar. Machining the cross bar is straight forward. For the uprights I just
tried it by modeling the upright in Rhino and then exporting as a .stl file.
I then tried doing the spiral toolpaths in StlWorks, but it did not give me
a proper path. I then took the .stl from Rhino and opened it in Vector
NURBS. Saved it back out of Vector as a .stl and once again into StlWorks.
Generated the spiral tool path and saved it as a .dxf. Opened the .dxf in
Vector and generated the rotary code from there. Checked it out with
Discriminator and it looks great. Seems like it would cut just fine.
