The standard, by its use in inductry is clearly in the public domain,
but the document
that actually spells it out is not. The copyright notice is probably
the largest one I've
ever seen, in type only a hair smaller than the title of the document,
on the front
page. This is one you really can't miss.

I'll have to look there. Machinery's Handbook may actually have MORE,
of use to those
working with it, than the language spec, which is fascinatingly narrow
in what it actually says.
