Injection Molds using CNC

Where is Joseph Delgado?
Alas, he is working days, building a 40 ton 1.5 oz. injection molding machine!
Which will soon be offered in kit form as well as plans form.
I am working on a smaller model as well...around 20 tons with 1 oz. injection.
I am building the prototypes with my newly completed CNC mill retrofit, as well as using my Supermax CNC.
I am currently also building a CNC plasma cutter. The machines are coming slow and sure.
I have studied Gingery's design, and felt it a little too small for my work, but a great exercise in DIY!
The concept is very good, in that there should be more economical alternatives to the great void in affordable machinery for DIY folks.
I build molds professionally and have a good collection of molding machines.
I hope to have plans ready for my two desings in the summer.
For the gentleman looking for small quantities of resin, I can probably help.
I have a collection of various resins from 15 years in the business.
I can't give it away, but will sell you small quantities reasonable.
Also Mario, I would be glad to discuss your intended mod's to facilitate auto clamping and ejection.

I currently use the daylights out of bobcad, and don't miss the days of manual mold making. (got a t-shirt).
CNC, as well as affordable cad/cam has really changed my world!

One other note..for those of you interested in building your own molds, a word of caution.. a poorly made mold can explode.
Most injection molding machines (even tiny bench models) are capable of 7000-300000 psi cavity pressure.
This could become like unto a hand grenade. Get some good advise.

I must make a living at what I do, but will gladly share info to fellow tinkerers on the list. (within reason)
(My normal consulting rates for mold design are 50 bucks per hour.
I have worked for Mitsubishi and Coca Cola as a Tooling Engineer and
Injection Molding Machine Engineer.)

If the list guru doesn't mind I might write an article or two, and post them on my site, then post the URL.
Is that kosher? I'm not too savvy on list ethics.

I think I have overstayed my typing space!

I love the list! Good brain food.
