Alan,
I have already converted my mill to CNC. First it was steppers.
Stepper were too weak and lost steps, so I changes to Gecko servo
drives and some monster DC motors fitted with encoders. Now I can
rip through most anything. I will be using the same Gecko drives in
my Camtronics box on the lathe. Just need to figure out the best
method of fastening the ballscrews to the saddle.
