Enco backlash

I've been following all kinds of solutions for reducing backlash in
CNC retrofits, from installing ball screws, to casting your own nuts.
I have an Enco 8 X 36 Model 100-1525 mill, and found instructions for
backlash adjustments on X-Y, on their web site. The yoke, through
which the X-Y screws pass has 2 cylindrical nuts for each screw. The
outer nuts have adjusting screws that effectively pre-load the nuts
to reduce backlash, and locking screws for maintaining the
adjustment. Has anyone been successful in using this on a CNC
machine, and how tight can you get the backlash?
