Does Linux get around the 8 gig bios limit in some way? I've never tried to install it on a drive
of that size. My largest is on a 4 gig.
That should be the only reason you would need the disk from the hard drive manufacturer, to overcome
the bios limitations. If your PC is relatively new, you wouldn't need that.
