Just to try and clear up what is consider on and off topics I am first
posting the Official rules as listed on the webpage for the group on
Yahoogroups.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------
This list is for discussion of CAD, CAM(CNC), EDM and DRO ONLY. The list
is aimed at the construction and use of this equipment in a Home Shop
Machinist environment. It is not moderated normally, but can be,
especially for content. I would hope that the discussion will consist of
Links, sources, progress reports, challenges, innovative solutions, and
things of this nature, on the above four subjects. It not aimed at the
commercial professional systems, and their users in a commercial setting.
NOTICE!!! LIST RULES, SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Arguments, OT postings, Flaming and Piracy not allowed. Banning will
result. NOTE: This is not a general machining List. It is restricted to
the four subjects of the list only. CAD, CAM(CNC), EDM and DRO. The list
is strictly for the "Do It Yourself Bunch"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now I will try to give you a little interpretation using the above question.

If the question is "How do I interface a spindle motor to my computer (both
the electronics and the G-codes to do it)", than it would be on topic.

If the question is I need a spindle motor for my XYZ type machine I am
designing/building/converting it is probably on topic unless it digressing
into motor design and sourcing replacement parts. An example here is, "I am
building a PCB router and need a spindle and motor?" would be on topic. But,
"I have a Bport and the motor toasted, where can I get one" is off topic.

If the question is I want to build a spindle motor can someone give me
plans, it is very much off topic.

If you are really in doubt than either contact Bill or I off list and ask.
We do not take offense at someone asking something that is OT by mistake.
When that happens or we see an on topic thread turn into an off topic yak we
will ask it to be dropped. Not dropping the topic at that point is where you
cross the line and measures will be taken to end the thread and get the list
back on topic. Repeat offenders are not accepted gladly.

As explained in the rules anyone not willing to follow and help keep the
forum on track is subject to moderation or banning.

Any questions or comments need to be directed to Bill or I off list at
