What you give up with lower values of capacitor is a higher ripple.
Ripple is really a bad thing in a stereo amplifier. It's not quite as
bad driving motors and inductive loads. While 10,000 MFD is low for
16A it would probably work okay for 10A. Since in reality that will
be about what your worst case draw will be, it is marginal but
usable. It won't do harm to your Motor Drive or motors to have some
ripple. If you can find another cap of the same size and put them in
parallel you can double the MFD rating (and lower the ripple).
Smaller (1000 to 3000MFD) caps across the DC at the input of the raw
DC to each of the motor controllers (GECKO?)will help. NO BIG CAPS
ACROSS THE MOTOR OUTPUTS ON THE MOTOR CONTROLLER!
