Bob,
There are a bunch of ways to accomplish 4/5 axis machining. Tilting
and rotating the spindle is one way, fairly complicated. IMO, the
simplest way is to rotate/tilt the workpiece. Of course depending
on what you want to do maybe one of these methods will do it better.
See http://www.haascnc.com/products/rotary/, look at the trunnion
tables. This is relatively easy to do in terms of the hardware.
