If you need more
than 4 axes, you plug in another board to the motherboard. The
motherboard accepts up
to 8 I/O boards, and can be extended if needed. There is also a digital
I/O board, that
has 17 opto-isolated digital inputs and positions for 8 solid state
relays. The 17th input
id for the estop chain. The estop logic also has watchdog timers on the
DAC board that
will cause an estop if any DAC board is not getting updates from the CPU.

All connection to the computer is through one EPP parallel port.

There are now drivers to support this hardware on the EMC 2.18 BDI CD.
