I'm using the Igus "EZ-chain" that has one-piece links with one solid side,
and the opposite side split (with an overlap). You arrange it so that the
solid side is down on the unsupported run, and the split side is down on
the supported run. You can leave the end brackets bolted in place, and
"snap" the chain onto the cables that already have connectors on both ends.
An essential part of the cable chain use is to make sure you cable-tie the
cables onto each end bracket so they don't shift within the chain when it
moves back and forth.
