is set (how depends upon the type and model of drive) for the electrical
requirement of the motors. On some of the old non-chopper type drives
you may need to use separate power supplies for each motor and use
different voltages also.

torque drops off rapidly. In some (many) cases you will actually get
less torque with a geared down motor than with a direct drive. All
depends upon the drives, the gearing, the particular motors, the power
supply voltage, etc.
