Someone asked about CNC under $2000.00, well you sure
are not gonna build it yourself for under 2G's with
ballscrews etc, plus the purchase of a real mill.

First you need to define a need for the CNC, do you
just need a mill, or do you really need CNC? CNC is
great for very complex shapes and runs of multiple
units, however for cutting a few straight lines and
making one off backets it'll actually slow you down.

If you want a CNC Mill look for an old Bridgeport
Series I Boss 4,5,6 machine, these can be found fully
functional for $2000.00 Sure it's not the ultimate in
CNC, but it is functional. I picked up my BOSS 4 BP
for $2,000 with very little runout and running
production parts within .0005 tolerances. Considering
that BOSS 4 does not microstep this was as good as
could be expected from the machine.

You can later retrofit the Mill with a modern
controller for less than what most other conversions
cost because you already have the ball screws.
