Windows XP

I am trying to run my gecko's through my parallel port and have
found that there is no direct access to the port with windoze XP.
Are there any freeware or trial programs out there that will work
with XP? Is there another way to skin this cat? I just got all of my
components in, hooked them up and slammed head first into this
problem. Bummed in Washington
