You may want to check out Microkinetics' system for doing threading on lathes. Using there computer control card, software, and encoder sytem, doing treading is very straight forward.......

Lathe Quick code has a good implementation of threading cycles both single pass callout(G32-33) and multiple(G76). I have verified it with several Fanuc controllers. Download a copy of the demo and you should have plenty of time to understand what formatting is required. Other standard Fanuc style lathe cycles are also included. It would be nice to have a hobby class lathe controller with more than basic contouring capability. Let me know if you need more info. I will be glad to work with you on this formatting.
