Trying to figure out what I have

I have tentitivly identified one of the motors on my BP milling
machine as:

Superior Electric, Slo-Syn type HS400-1001, 4.2Volts, 4.3Amps D.C.

I think its a stepper, but would appreciate some confirmation of
this. What would you recommend to interface a PC to the machine if
it has similar motors on the XYZ axis?
