Hi Hans,
The "slop" is to allow minor adjustment of position. The face of the
motor "registers" with it's mount, which usually has a mating hole in
it. In a pinch, use four flat washers! Not the best idea, but worked
for me on a rotary table (NEMA #23) for quite a while with MaxNC's
motor. I'm currently using a SanyoDenki, which FITS the CNC mount on
the Sherline rotary table.
