Well I finally got off my but and ordered an inverter and
motor to drive the Spindle of the Supermax. I kept missing
the ebay auctions So I contacted Dealers Electric at
http://dealerselectric.com
They have been auctioning off drives, but I wanted to get one
and not be depressed about lossing a bid :(
They are in Brooklyn NY and have a good inventory of AC inverters and AC motors.
Harrold helped me choose an inverter
and a motor to fit my needs 2HP totally enclosed motor 230Vac
with a 5HP 3 phase inverter running on single phase 230VAC
( derated the inverter from 5HP to 2HP for single phase). A very helpfull person.
Good prices and UPS got it to me in 1 day. I can highly recommend them.
I got it hooked up on the bench last night and boy is it cool!! the motor just
creeps along at low speed. It ramps up and runs with almost no vibration.
Now to figure out all the "firmware" to get the motor running
at the speeds I need.
This weekend... Motor Mounts!!!!
moral of the story: "If a company Auctions on ebay, Call them
and order it from their stock at normal price. You might pay a bit more, but
you do get customer service."
