Great show on Nova just now. The competition between Lockheed and
Boeing for the contract to manufacture the next generation super fighter. In
one segment they talked about a key component in Lockheed's plane. A
bulkhead machined from a 5 ton slab of titanium. It held up there test
assembly as it took, if I heard properly, FIVE months to machine using
diamond milling bits and some magical cooling substance.
