Hello,

Don't take this advice, unless you are VERY experienced, AND are
willing to risk your life...

Using a variable transformer/variac exposes you and your circuit to
the 110 or 220 mains!

These provide no isolation from the A/C; which means if something
goes wrong you will be hit with as much current as the wires can pass!

This has been discussed before. PLEASE use an isolation transformer...
