Grounds are funny things if they are at different levels. I strongly
suggest you bond the ground in your controller to your router and then the
choice of where to ground your cables becomes academic. If they are a great
distance from each other, use larger ground wire. Make sure that your
equipment is also grounded on the power side as well. (see the current
National Electric Code for guidance on the proper way to ground equipment or
what wire size to use if you are unsure)

Subject: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] cable shielding and relays
Hi all,
I am just trying to finish up my router/plasma project and there are
two things I can't seem to find any info on.
1. I'm using a shielded wire for my motor connections - do I ground
that wire at the machine or at my controller box?
2. Does anyone have a source for a safe (to my equipment), simple to
make or premade relay setup for turning on spindles, etc.?
Thanks a bunch,
Chris Coleman
