Question on flexible motor mounts

The NEMA 42 steppers on the Bridgeport I am working on have neoprene
(or something similar) bushings around the mounting screws giving
them a little side to side flexibility, but are direct connected to
the scews. Any recommendations whether this is OK or if I should
change to flexible couplings would be appreciated.
