I have a 5' long exposed ballscrew on my gantry. Even with dust
extraction it tends to collect a fine layer of dust. The mechanism
is mounted in a "U" shaped housing that covers the bottom and top but
the front is open to allow the movement of the carrige. It is
mounted on the front of the gantry. Since this is verticle it
presents a little more of a challenge. Your idea is good for a
smaller horizontal set of ways like on a mill though...thanks.
