Hello to all on the list I have been putting off converting a smithy
midas 1720cnc to computer control for about two years. Well it is
time, called smithy thay don't sell the machine or the cnc kit
anymore so I am on my own. I would like to see if I could get some
feedback on my thoughts on the conversion.
servos for x,y,z + 2 extra for rotary table and wire feeder for edm
gecko controllers
hp power supply for motors
ballscrews I would like to find some that are 6 tpi so I could do
manual threading or is it really necesary ? And do I need to spend
serious green or can I get by with something a little less than nasa
quality? And what about the ways should I be using linear bearings
instead?
Thanks for any input you can give :)
