Re: Parallel Port Boards?

Hi Bill,

At the moment, the Sound Logic board is
the only one offering support of the new
"watchdog" feature in Mach1. This helps
prevent your machine from reacting to
signals on the printer port caused by
sources other than Mach1 or by Mach1
itself if it fails in some way that stops
serving the watchdog signal.

Both the Sound Logic board and the PMDX-120
offer access to all signals, provide isolation
and buffering, and have on board power supplies.

The Sound Logic board controls coolant, spindle,
etc. by driving external opto-isolator relays
with a DC signal. The PMDX-120 has on board
electromechanical relays suitable for directly
switching loads up to 10 amperes 120VAC or
they can be used with the auxiliary 5VDC
output to drive external opto-isolator relays
for more power.

The PMDX-120 also has one special low current
input designed to directly connect to the
"fault" signals on the Gecko 320/340 drives.

The PMDX-120 uses pluggable terminal strips
for outputs and the choice of the on-board
Centronics printer connector or a user supplied
ribbon cable to a remote DB-25 for connection
to the computer.

Thanks for your interest and hope this helps.

Steve Stallings
