Why don't you use a cone or plug w/ a center drilled hole in each end and a
tailstock? We do this kind of stuff all the time with OD grinding, and then
use a Hose clamp on the tube OD & an adjustable driver dog for a place to
drive the rotary motion.

Also Vector can generate the G-code directly as X-Z-A (r-theta) coordinates.
same as you would program on a mill with a rotary 4th axis. It can also do
this with oval or rectangular shaped tubing, virtually any 3D form could be
cut. Using Bobcad or Vector you can generate round on center intersections
between different sized pipes, and Vector can slice the ends of revolved
surfaces to make intersecting shapes, then wrap them around the cylindrical
shape to program the actual shape needed for the assembly oif the two parts.

We also just completed a prototype t-slot base for mounting a rotary axis
and a tail stock. They are aluminum, 1 x 4 x 24 inches long, handle
standard t-nuts for 1/2 bolts in a single T-slot, have 6 recessed mounting
holes for 3/8 bolts. We are making these in some quantity, and would
consider 1 or 2 piece orders if there is any interest. (around $75.00 each)
