Why not start with a sphere, and cut 8 facets in it, equally spaced apart,
one bottom, one top,. and 3 in the 'southern hemisphere', staggared with 3
in the 'northern hemisphere', extending each circular facet, until they
touch? If you have trouble with it, I'll offer my help... let me know.
Oh... why 8 facets?? Well, you really need a base for the Memorial, so it
wouldn't rest on someone's face. BTW, if you're doing this on your own,
it's a very noble gesture to some very brave (still) pioneers.

and I was wondering if I had jumped the track or something! I guess I am
looking for a 7 sided geodesic sphere? Some questions that come to mind
are; what is it properly called, are they at all useful, where do they hide
because I cannot recall ever seeing one....
