You probably want to go with something other than a heptahedron for
several reasons. Like Raymond suggests you'll need a base so as not to
set it on anyone's face. Also there is no really nice looking
hepthedron other than an extruded pentagon shape, seven sides but I
don't think it would do your project justice. There are others but
they get pretty funky, and I don't mean that in a good way, looking.
On the other hand, an octahedron is two four sided pyramids placed
bottom to bottom, but it really doesn't sit in an upright looking
manner unless it's in a stand of some sort. I'd suggest something
more along the lines of a truncated octahedron. It gives you 14
faces, 7 hexagons and 7 squares. Here's an example image:

You could use the squares for something like NASA logos or dates or
whatever it's your design, and the seven hexagons for the faces. With
this shape the item is more spherical like you were looking for and,
IMHO, more pleasing to the eye.
