Cutter Compensation Program

Gentlemen:

I understand that most CAD/CAM programs have Cutter Compensation. And
that some controllers also can do this.

A couple of years back I made a cutter comp program which read-in G91
G-Code for a program, asked for cutter diameter, left or right
offset, then generated a new G91 *compensated* program. It had (2)
limitations; 1) it was for Incremental (G91) code only and, 2) it
would NOT accept any straight line segment shorter than the cutter
radius.

In the meantime, I have continued programming and am reconsidering
whether a more universal cutter comp program would be of value to
many people. The specifications of this program would be:
1) Accepts both G90 and G91 programs
2) Generates either G90 or G91 compensated programs
3) Would involve "look-ahead" to enable compensation of programs
using many small straight line segments
4) Compensation is in the X-Y plane
5) The cost to users of this program would be $25
6) I would include my Graph32 which shows an on-screen display of the
program along with a selected measurement grid. Graph 32 is
already completed.

I would be most interested in comments from individuals who use CNC
machines before continuing this project.

Regards,
Jack C.
