If you are going to use +5 as your common you don't want the common
ground option (your "common" is +5). You need to rearrange the 340
option jumpers for "COMMON +5VDC" (bottom setting in the INPUT OPTION
HEADER Drawing on page 2). The +5 supply you use must have a common
ground with the PC ground. The parallel port pins work MUCH better
as current SINKS rather than sources so your plan is correct.
