What about motors? The motors you have determine everything else. if
you haven't
gotten the motors yet, hold off until then, as it may affect everything,
but most especially
the sprocket sizes. If you have high-torque, low-speed motors, you will
only want a
small belt reduction ratio. If you have lower-torque, high-speed
motors, you will
need a greater reduction ratio.

Do you have ballscrews? If not, the inefficiency of the Acme screws
needs to be taken
into account. What linear force do you plan to develop with this
machine? What
spindle taper, speed range and spindle HP do you have?
