Sources for linear encoders? (in addition to Ebay)

Can anybody point me in the direction of surplus inexpensive linear encoders which would be suitable for my full size mill CNC conversion? ebay has a couple but not exactly what I am looking for. Would rather not wait 4 or 5 weeks till the right thing shows up if I don't have to...
