Better to at least use acme threaded rod. More efficient to use and
also more accurate than allthread.

I suspect that the usual inexpensive route of L298 and L297 are
reasonable enough. The app notes provide enough data to design a
board.

Depends on size. Herbach and Rademan has some, but the largest is
under 200 in/oz.
