Vince,

Not sure how Linux literate you are so forgive me if you already know
this.

First edit /etc/inittab. Change the 5 on the line that starts
with "id:5:" to a 3. This will cause you to start in console mode
after a reboot, then you can run /usr/X11/bin/Xconfigurator to change
your X settings. To try them out after a save enter the
command "telinit 5".

Once you have your settings correct change /etc/inittab back to 5.
