CNC spindle rebuild question

I have the unfortunate need to replace or rebuild the spindle in our 1995 vintage Arrow 500 Cincinnati VMC. I just replaced the spindle drive motor and after three weeks the spindle is starting to make noise on side load cuts and it is now starting to get warmer than normal , but not hot yet. My question is, are there spindle re builders that are reputable? I was told by the tech's at the factory that it is not wise to rebuild it in the field, and that it is best to do a swap with them for a rebuilt and one year warranteed spindle. The cost of the rebuilt spindle with my spindle as a trade-in is aprox.$2800 not including re-orienting the spindle and motor encoder or shipping. I plan to do the removal and installation myself. Does this price sound fair or should I look for spindle re-builder in the Denver Colorado area?
