I purchased the Optistep controller under the impression that in
conjunction with the Optitracker card one could obtain closed loop stepper
control. The documentation that came with Millmaster was vague on this so I
called Microkinetics for clarification. Turns out that Millmaster simply
executes a block of code, reads the encoders after the move and then adds or
subtracts additional steps (a separate commanded move) to get to the target
position. This is ok for making up one or two occasional lost steps but
won't help much if one axis gets significantly delinquent.
