AC servo drivers?

Does anyone make a reasonably priced (price range of Gecko or Rutex)
servo driver for AC servos that accepts step & direction inputs? I
salvaged a couple of Vexta servo motors from work but all the drivers
I'm aware of are for DC servos only. Must be more complicated to
drive an AC servo?
