Are you talking about the R991H? This is a step/direction converter
to mate step/direction computer programs to analog servo amps.
The tachometer would be unused in this setup, which is a shame.

This sounds like the R90H. With that, you replace everything but the
motors.
You end up paying a lot more for it, and doing a lot more rewiring, too.
Again, the tach would not be used. The R90H takes the step/direction
signals directly, so it does not need the R991H.

But, I think it would be a shame to rip out good true servo amps and
replace them with imitation step/dir servos. Especially if your machine
has handwheels, you defeat the ability to use the machine in manual mode,
with the CNC control acting as a DRO.
