My experience so far is that even though I have plenty of bigger mills I
still use the Sherline. The one time I did move the drives and such to a
bigger machine I missed having the smaller machine and ended up getting
another set of drives so they could both be running. So, while getting a
big drive as a way of planning for future growth just did not work out
for me. Besides, you can sell the Sherline with a complete CNC system
and according to Sherline it is worth more than the sum of the parts.
Use the profit to get the appropriate sized system when you are ready.

As a semi related point, I am now selling a complete turn key 4 axis
driver box based on the Xylotex drive. Plug it into the wall, plug in
the computer and motors and turn it on. Your CNC system is ready to make
chips. It has 2 computer controlled 110 vac outlets and has a built in
E-stop. Details on my E-commerce site with the Sherline stuff.
