Newbie on EDO

Hi,

Sorry to take up your time and space, with such a simplistic question, so I'll make it brief. Could someone either give me a brief description or an address where I can find out what EDM is and how it fits in to metal work? What I have surmised from posts on this group that it is an electronic mill of sorts. If it is, what kind of machining does it do best?

Just curious now but maybe interested when I find out what it is. Thanks.
