g-code generation algorithm

hi,
Does anyone know an algorithm to generate g-codes from
.dxf or .dwg files?
I see lots of programs that can do it, but none except
the ACE convertor from Yeager Automation includes
source code.
I intend to write an open source, GPL'd cad/cam
program and I need the algorithm (or a library if
possible) which can do this job.
