Hi Zafar
Perhaps my experience with hydraulic motor driven ball screws will shed some
light on the subject for you. I bought a Cincinatti flat bed mill to
retrofit a few years ago. It had ball screws driven by hydraulic motors. I
had put together a circuit board using Galil GL1200's which take step and
direction signals from the PC and encoder feedback and output an analog
signal (+/- 10 volt) to control the servos. I thought I would try to
utilize the existing hydraulic motors so I replaced the resolvers with
encoders and modified the old servo valve control circuits to work with the
new board. I think it took me about two days of wading around in hydraulic
oil and watching the 2000 lb table do it's best to fly off the machine at
times to decide to put the nice dc servo motors and amps that were sitting
there on the machine. A few days to fit up the new motors, another spent
tuning the system and I had a smooth sweet running machine tool. Still runs
that way today and I have never regretted getting rid of those hydraulic
servos. Hydraulics is great for some applications like presses or backhoes
but I think machine tools run much better and much more reliably on electric
servo motors. Just my 2 cents.
Regards,
Bob

yard. It's controller and hydraulic unit are missing. Ball screws are there
and are fitted with hydraulic pulse motors. This is the first time I've
heared about these motors. Could anyone guide me where to find info on those
motors. If it's too much hassle to fix and operate those motors then these
can be replaced with steppers or servos.
