I've been able to get EMC up and running on a Mandrake 6.0 system. It
really wasn't that hard. As far as what EMC want's to see in the kernel, I
just downloaded the pre-patched 2.2.13 kernel from rtlinux.org. It seems
there are slight directory structure differences between the different
distributions and I had to make 2 or 3 links so that the rt kernel and EMC
could find everything they needed to compile but it wasn't too hard.

P.S. the March 15 release is much better for freqmot. I can get my PERIOD
down to 10-12us on a K6400.
