Doug,
You may not be a RedHat fan, but you are going against the stream trying to
get EMC to run on anything else. I am no expert on this, but from what I
understand RedHat has made a few changes in the kernel and EMC is expecting
them to be there. I do remember people trying to get EMC to run on other
Linux distributions, but I don't remember anyone actually getting it to work
with a real time kernel and making a machine run.
So, if you objective is to mess with Linux you probably have a good plan.
OTOH, if you want to use EMC to run a metal cutting machine and want to get
it running sooner rather than later, I would suggest you use the
distribution EMC is written for and accept that it is not your favorite.
