stepper resolution

I have just completed my conversion on a homier mini mill and am
having trouble getting the resolution for the controller read out to
match the actual travel of the axes. I using maxnc software. My z
axis is a 4 tpi ball screw with timing belts on the ball screw is a
pully with 30 teeth and the motor has 14 teeth. on the x and y axes
the lead screw is 16 tpi with the same pully arrangment. the
steppers are set in the contol box 1/4 step. As far a I got it
figuired my x and y resolution should be 800 steps X 2.1428571
ratio X 16 TPI = 27428.569 resolution and on z axes 800 X 2.1428571 X
4 tpi =6857.1424 resolution. But it just isn't giving me any thing
usable at this time as far as running any code. I'm a newbie at this
and any help would be appreciated. When my wife gets back in town
with my digital camera I will post a couple pictures. She really
flys and has no problem making chips but the sizes are wrong for
